Full Description

After picking, the leaves are carefully massaged to bring out the juices, they are then left to ferment to intensify all the biologically active ingredients.

Ivan Chai or Tea is reported to be a very beneficial anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Naturally caffeine, oxalic & uric acid free, making this a wonderful tea for any time of the day or evening. Enjoyed for it’s calming and restorative properties, Ivan tea is delicious and very easy to drink and is a healthy alternative to black tea with a rich composition of valuable vitamins and minerals.

First Nation peoples of Canada drank Ivan tea for gastro-intestinal and bronchial problems and one of its chemical compounds has been patented as an anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory ingredient for skincare products. Willowherb is a valuable and important herb and offers a delightful cup of tea full of the flavours of late summer and the blooms of its bright pink flowers.

Our very special Ivan Tea is hand processed in small batches, being picked, hand-rolled and fermented in oak barrels during the summer months once the plants have started flowering. Available only in a limited supply as the process is done to order with meticulous care. Sourced from a small producer in a remote part of Siberia where the high altitudes, clean air and wild harvesting ensures a pristine source of Willowherb.

A little goes a long way – add a good pinch in hot water (not boiling) is enough for a very enjoyable cup of tea. The leaves can be re-steeped.
