Known as the “King's" or "Superior" mulberry. Our black ‘Shahtoot’ mulberries are exquisite! Soft, sticky and satisfyingly fruity

Full Description

These gorgeous mulberries are from the rarer ‘Morus nigra’ species of mulberry tree. Most mulberry fruits (even black mulberries) are from Morus alba trees. Morus nigra mulberries are superior to the common mulberry, with an abundance of anti-oxidants and phenolic compounds

Our special mulberries have a delightful fruity tartness. They are sticky, almost juicy, unlike the hard dry mulberries typically available. They are hand-picked to ensure the soft berries are not crushed and sun-dried

Mulberries have long been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine as an anti-ageing yin tonic to nourish the blood and kidneys. They are highly recommended for people suffering from anaemia or fatigue

According to a study published in the “Journal of Medicinal Food,” mulberry is an excellent source of C3G, traditionally used for treating inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. These beautiful deep-coloured fruits are rich in phenolic compounds - phenolic acids and flavonols are regarded as major functional food components and are understood to have an antioxidant effect on the body
