Full Description ✧

Our Cordyceps Militaris mushrooms are grown on organic substrates, largely made up of silkworm larvae, free from GMOs and grains. This produces a cordyceps fruiting body with constituents very similar to the very expensive wild product found only on the snowline of the Himalayas.

Only the fruiting bodies are used to produce our powder, extracted and processed in line with the ancient wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine. A special temperature-controlled extraction is used to perfectly suit the mushroom's characteristics, ensuring all the naturally occurring and most valuable components are captured within the extract to mirror the composition of the living mushroom, producing a 100% pure fruiting body full-spectrum powder.

What are Cordyceps Militaris?

Wild Cordyceps ( Ophiocordyceps sinensis ) is a rare and expensive herb. It is a mushroom attached to the mummified (transformed) remains of a caterpillar upon which it has grown.

Its common Chinese name is “Winter worm, summer grass”, because spores of the mushroom take root in a living caterpillar and eventually, after paralysing and consuming the caterpillar, grow into the fruiting body of the mushroom with a similar shape to a blade of grass.

Where are wild Cordyceps Militaris grown?

Wild Cordyceps are harvested in high mountain regions of the Himalayas in Tibet, Nepal and China. These treasures have always been a rare commodity (considering they’re only found above altitudes of 3,800 metres for a couple of months of the year). Their unique medicinal properties led to enormous market demand, resulting in Wild Ophiocordyceps sinensis being added to the list of endangered species.

Due to the rarity and high cost of this herb, Chinese Mycologists developed a way of growing this mushroom's mycelium. This pure mycelium product is primarily known as CS-4. They have also now cultured another variety using the Cordyceps Militaris on solid-state fermentation substrates, where they can harvest the fruiting bodies of the Cordyceps.

The solid substrates are mainly made up of silkworm larvae pulp, which provides a food source for the cordyceps similar to the caterpillar larvae that the wild cordyceps choose to grow on. This means that the end mushroom product is very similar to the wild version

How is our Cordyceps Militaris extract powder made?

All our tonic herb extract powders are produced to the highest quality using state-of-the-art spray technology that allows the liquid extract to be carefully dehydrated into a micro-fine powder that will dissolve back into any liquid or warm water.

Do our Cordyceps Militaris Powders have fillers or additives added?

They are supplied in dark glass containers and are free of any additives and fillers, synthetic ingredients, preservatives, flours and other bulking agents, GMO's, dairy and gluten, and each powder is thoroughly tested for heavy metals, pesticides and other contaminants - a certificate of analysis is available upon request for each herbal extract
