Full Description

Palo Santo (Bursera Graveolen) trees grow in South America. In Spanish, Palo Santo translates as 'Holy or Sacred Wood'. The magic of Palo Santo happens in the alchemical process once a limb falls or the tree dies. Palo Santo's healing properties develop only when a tree dies. The aromatic oils in the wood will not develop if the tree is felled or in pieces cut from a tree

Palo Santo trees live for 80 - 90 years. After they die, or when a limb falls, the wood must remain in its natural habitat for 4-10 years to complete its metamorphosis. Our Palo Santo sticks are Ceremonial Grade - meaning the wood has been harvested, split and treated respectfully. Palo Santo is much more than a commodity product - it is a living, sacred tool

Palo Santo is traditionally used by Andean shaman in ceremonial work for its cleaning and healing qualities. As the wood burns, it releases a very pleasant, fresh-smelling smoke with hints of uplifting, balancing citrus. Excellent before meditation, to clear the air following conflict or stife and when creating sacred space to attract benevolent energies

Palo Santo is very protective - helping to facilitate clarity, harmony, and restore balance. A wonderful alternative to White Sage, our Palo Santo sticks are also much more convenient to use when travelling compared to loose sage

The palo santo sticks we offer do not have any additives to help them burn. They are pure wood, properly aged and traditionally harvested. The wood will not burn like commercial incense sticks which are made from powdered ingredients, bound together and rolled in a way that ensures they burn continuously

Palo Santo is traditionally used by lighting the wood and allowing it to burn for a short time. After the flame naturally extinguishes or when blown out, the wood will release its aromatic smoke for a couple of minutes. The sticks can be relit again and again
