✧ What is Tonic Gold M?
Tonic Gold M is our warming herbal coffee elixir: a blend of eight treasured mushrooms, with moringa leaf and prepared he shou wu, brought together into a single great-tasting cup. It is a little help from the forest, a grounding daily ritual to reach for in place of your usual coffee, or to stir into the one you already love.
The blend is an evolution of our original Tonic Gold formula, with years of research behind it, and a full spectrum of mushroom extracts folded in. It has become one of our most loved blends: warming, earthy and smooth, and lovely at any time of day.
✧ Which mushrooms are in the blend?
Eight treasured mushrooms, each with its own character:
- Reishi, the lacquered, fan-shaped mushroom revered across East Asia for many centuries.
- Lion's Mane, the soft white mushroom that cascades in icicle-like spines.
- Chaga, the dark, charcoal-crusted mushroom that grows on birch trees in the northern cold.
- Cordyceps militaris, the slender, bright golden-orange mushroom.
- Turkey Tail, the fan-shaped bracket banded in rings of colour, named for the bird it resembles.
- Shiitake, the prized culinary mushroom of East Asian kitchens.
- Maitake, known as "hen of the woods" for its ruffled, overlapping fronds.
- Meshima, a golden bracket mushroom long treasured in the traditions of Korea and Japan.
Alongside the mushrooms sit two more gifts of the plant world: moringa oleifera leaf, the green leaf of the moringa tree, and prepared he shou wu (fo-ti), a root long held among the great tonic herbs of Chinese tradition.

✧ How do you make Tonic Gold M?
One gram, about half a level teaspoon, to a cup, a little more or less depending on how strong you like the flavour.
- Add your spoonful to a cup or mug.
- Pour over hot water and stir.
- For a creamier, latte-style cup, add the milk of your choice. Coconut milk is our favourite.
Many enjoy it just like this, as a herbal coffee in its own right. Others stir a spoonful straight into their morning coffee. There is no wrong way, and it is lovely at any time of day.

✧ Your questions, answered
› Does Tonic Gold M contain coffee or caffeine?
No. The blend contains no coffee bean and no added caffeine. Every ingredient is a mushroom or plant extract, the eight mushrooms alongside moringa leaf and prepared he shou wu, and none of these is a coffee or a caffeine source.
The "herbal coffee" in the name describes how people enjoy it: a warming, earthy cup to reach for in place of your usual coffee, or to stir into the one you already love. It is not made from coffee.
› Can you tell me exactly how much of each mushroom is in the blend?
We are not able to share the exact amount of each extract, as the recipe is proprietary. This is one we are asked often, and we are always happy to explain why.
What we can say is that every mushroom, along with the moringa leaf and prepared he shou wu, is folded in as a pure 10:1 extract. We formulated the blend so you can enjoy many treasured extracts together in a single, great-tasting cup, rather than measuring out each one on its own.
› What does it taste like?
Warming, earthy and smooth, with a roasted, coffee-like character that gives the blend its name. It is one of our most loved blends for good reason, and it is lovely at any time of day.
Many enjoy it just as it is, stirred into hot water. Others add the milk of their choice for a creamier, latte-style cup. Coconut milk is our favourite.
› Do you test Tonic Gold M for purity and heavy metals?
Yes. Like all of our extracts, Tonic Gold M is tested for purity, including heavy metals, pesticides and other contaminants, before it reaches you. You can view the current Certificate of Analysis for the details.
› How should I store it, and why might it clump?
Because the blend is pure extract with no added fillers, there is nothing in it to keep the powder free-running, so it can draw in moisture from the air and firm up or clump over time, especially once the jar has been opened. This is normal, and it is still perfectly good to use.
Keep the jar sealed and away from steam and humidity. If it sets firm, break it up with the back of a spoon, or give it a quick blitz in a grinder. It will still dissolve readily in a hot cup.
