Our Super-Potent Reishi Triterpene Crystals are extracted from the spores of Duanwood Reishi Mushrooms using state-of-the-art Super-Critical CO2 extraction technology.
Triterpenes are the most active constituent of the revered Reishi mushroom and have been extracted in their purest form. Zen in-a Jar is a powerful, highly concentrated pure Reishi Triterpene product.
Free of additives and fillers, synthetic ingredients, preservatives, flours and other bulking agents, GMOs, dairy and gluten. Tested and certified pure from contamination of heavy metals, moulds, chemicals and bacteria.

› How is Zen in a Jar different from your Duanwood Reishi extract?
Both come from the same mushroom, Duanwood Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum), but they are made from different parts of it. Our Duanwood Reishi is a full-spectrum dual extract of the whole mushroom. Zen in a Jar is drawn only from the spores, the fine seed-like part the mushroom releases, and concentrated down to the triterpene crystals using CO2 extraction.
Triterpenes are the main compounds found in Reishi spores, so Zen in a Jar is a more concentrated triterpene product than a whole-mushroom extract. Many people keep both, our Duanwood Reishi as an everyday extract and Zen in a Jar when they want something more concentrated. The two sit well together.
› What is supercritical CO2 extraction, and why use it?
Supercritical CO2 extraction uses carbon dioxide, the same gas that gives sparkling water its bubbles, as the extraction medium. Under high pressure the carbon dioxide reaches a supercritical state, where it behaves like both a liquid and a gas, and in that state it draws the triterpenes out of the Reishi spores.
No chemical solvents are used. Once the process is finished the carbon dioxide simply lifts away, leaving the concentrated triterpene crystals behind. There are no fillers, flours or bulking agents added. That is how we arrive at such a pure, concentrated triterpene powder.
› Do you test Zen in a Jar for heavy metals, and can I see the results?
Yes. Every batch is tested for purity, including heavy metals, bacteria and other contaminants, before it reaches you. You can view the current Certificate of Analysis for the details.

› Why is it so bitter, and does the taste vary between batches?
Zen in a Jar is very bitter, and that is simply the taste of a genuinely concentrated triterpene extract, with nothing added to soften it. We suggest starting with a quarter teaspoon and taking it in a little warm water, or stirred into tea, a smoothie or your favourite drink rather than on its own.
Because we source the spores as nature provides them, the colour, texture and exact taste can vary a little from batch to batch. This is normal for a pure, unstandardised product and is not a sign anything is wrong. Keep the jar sealed in its amber glass, away from damp and steam, to keep the powder at its best.
