Nettle Root Extract · Full Spectrum · Wild Harvested
✧ What is Nettle Root?
Nettle Root is the root of the common stinging nettle (Urtica dioica), a very different part of the plant from the familiar leaf. Where the leaf has long been eaten and brewed as a nourishing green, it is the root that traditional European and folk herbalists have valued as a deeper, grounding tonic.
Quietly unglamorous and easy to overlook, the root has been gathered and dried for generations. Ours is offered as a concentrated full spectrum extract, so the character of the whole root is captured in an easy daily powder.
✧ What is a full spectrum extract, and why does it matter?
Our nettle root is extracted with purified water, in line with the traditions of Chinese herbalism, using a gentle, temperature-controlled process matched to the herb's characteristics. This captures the naturally occurring compounds in the same proportions found in the herb itself, which is what makes it a true full spectrum extract rather than an isolated or standardised fraction.
The liquid extract is dried with fine spray technology into a micro-fine powder that dissolves easily into warm water. Nothing is added, and nothing is standardised away.

✧ Your questions, answered
› Why do the colour, taste and strength vary from batch to batch?
Because our Nettle Root is a wild-harvested, full spectrum extract that we do not standardise, each batch carries the natural character of the roots it was made from. The colour can shift from a lighter to a deeper, browner tone, and the taste and strength can vary a little too. This is normal for a whole-root extract, and it is not a sign that anything is amiss.
Wild roots change with the season and the ground they grow in, so their natural compounds and potency differ through the year. Our high standards are held around sourcing, potency and purity, rather than making every jar look and taste identical. A uniform, standardised powder is what you get when a herb is stripped back to a fixed fraction, and that is exactly what we choose not to do.
› Is this a strong extract, and how much should I take?
Yes, it is concentrated. Ours is a 10:1 full spectrum extract, which means roughly 1g of the powder reflects about 10g of the raw root. A little goes a long way. The daily serving is 1g, around half a level teaspoon, stirred into warm water, tea, plant milk or a smoothie.
Because it is a concentrated extract, it is sensible to begin gently. Start with the 1g serving or a little less, take it with food and plenty of water, and build up slowly if you wish, rather than reaching for a heaped spoonful. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking any regular medication, please speak to a qualified healthcare practitioner before adding it to your routine.
› Is any alcohol used to make this extract?
No. Our Nettle Root is extracted with purified water only, in line with the traditions of Chinese herbalism, using a gentle, temperature-controlled process. There is no alcohol used in the making, and none to leave behind.
The liquid extract is then dried with fine spray technology into a micro-fine powder that dissolves easily into warm water. Nothing is added, and nothing is standardised away.
› Do you test your Nettle Root for heavy metals, and can I see the certificate?
Yes. Every batch is tested for purity, including heavy metals, pesticides and other contaminants, before it reaches you. You can view the current Certificate of Analysis for the details.
Heavy metals are a fair thing to ask about with any root drawn from wild soil, which is why we test rather than assume. You will also find the certificate linked in the ingredients section of this page.
› How should I store it, and why can the powder clump?
Keep the jar sealed and somewhere cool and dry, away from steam and humidity. Our extracts contain no anti-caking agents, bulking agents or humectants, so the powder naturally draws in a little moisture from the air and can firm up over time, especially once the jar has been opened.
This is normal, and the powder is still perfectly good to use. If it does set firm, break off a piece and crumble it, or give it a moment in a small grinder. It will still dissolve readily into a warm drink.
