Shatavari Root Powder - HOMA Organic Grown
✧ What is HOMA-grown Shatavari?
On the small HOMA farm in India where our shatavari is grown, the day opens and closes with fire ceremonies. Through these sunrise and sunset ceremonies, offerings are made to the land, and the air and environment are tended as carefully as the soil.
Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) is a climbing plant of the Indian forests, prized for its slender, tuberous roots. Its name is often read as "she of a hundred roots", and in Ayurveda it is the great women's tonic, held close for thousands of years.
We use only the root, ground slowly to a fine powder, single-source and pure.
✧ Why do people take Shatavari?
Shatavari is best known as a herb for women. It is the one traditionally taken to support a woman through every season of her life, through the monthly cycle, the fertile years, and into menopause.
It is gentle and grounding, an adaptogen reached for in times of depletion or change. Soft and nourishing rather than stimulating, it is a herb to keep close and take steadily, day after day.

✧ What is HOMA (Agnihotra) farming?
HOMA farming honours the land as a living being. Rooted in Ayurveda, it is both a science and a sacred ritual, performed at sunrise and at sunset.
Most farming tends only the soil. HOMA farming goes further, recognising that a plant is nourished as much by the atmosphere around it as by the earth below. Organic HOMA preparations feed the land while the daily Agnihotra fire ceremonies purify the air, raising every plant within an energetic field of abundant vitality, a vitality carried through into the produce we harvest.
We are blessed to work with a very special HOMA farm in India, and we love sharing their harvest.
✧ How do you take Shatavari?
In Ayurveda, shatavari is traditionally taken in warm milk, often with a little honey.
- Start gently, building to around 1 teaspoon (approx 2g) a day.
- Take in the morning or evening, or split between the two.
These are general suggestions and do not account for your age, weight, health, or other supplements or medications. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or under medical care, please speak with a qualified practitioner first.
Shatavari sits naturally beside our other HOMA-grown herbs, such as Ashwagandha. For more on how it is grown, visit our guide to HOMA organic farming.
