What is Polygala Root?
Polygala (Polygala tenuifolia) is one of the classic Shen tonics of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where the root is known as yuan zhi, "the will-strengthener". For more than two thousand years it has been one of the herbs traditionally associated with the calm, settled spirit, valued in the old texts for steadiness of heart and mind.
It is a slender, unassuming root, gathered and dried in the traditional way. Ours is offered as a concentrated full spectrum extract, so the whole root is captured in a simple daily powder.

What is a full spectrum extract, and why does it matter?
Our polygala root is extracted with purified water, in line with the traditions of Chinese herbalism, using a gentle, temperature-controlled process matched to the herb's characteristics. This captures the naturally occurring compounds in the same proportions found in the herb itself, which is what makes it a true full spectrum extract rather than an isolated or standardised fraction.
The liquid extract is dried with fine spray technology into a micro-fine powder that dissolves easily into warm water. Nothing is added, and nothing is standardised away.

How do you take Polygala Root Extract?
A daily serving is 1g, roughly half a level teaspoon. Stir into warm water, tea, plant milk or a smoothie. There is no brewing or steeping needed, the work has already been done in the extraction.

I am a regular user of polygala root extract from N'avi. The batch flavours do vary from time to time, but in general it is palatable when taken not too strong. I combine mine with other herbs. It improves focus and disperses brain fog - I get a lot more creative things done!

I brought this to go with schizandra Berry, this plant opens up a path that balances heart and kidneys, fire and water heave and earth. I didn't know it was a nootropic so that was a surprise when I went searching for this and found it here. Great service, and really great attention and care to the products and what Na'vi is putting out in to the world. For how much you take and what you get for the price, also the miron Glass jars really was great vaule.

Definitely found this to have a good anti depression effect. Also good for anxiety and certainty gives a calm energy boost. Only negative for me is it does give me gastric discomfort if I take it daily for more then a couple of weeks in succession.

This product claims many benefits, but I've only tried it for the last few weeks so too early to say what benefits I've felt. However it's a fine powder that mixes easily into smoothies etc. As always Na'vi delivers excellent service.

I find this an effective nootropic and have been using it for some time now. Its definitely anti-depressive, and for me it certainly increases mental concentration. Tastes ok, so can be drunk as a tea. I blend it with other herbs like Schizandra and He Sho Wu to soften the taste.

I have been using this herb for a few months and have found it to be effective for my aims and needs. As a nootropic it promises better brain function, which I noticed on the day i first took it. It cuts through brain fog, and gives me more focus and cognitive speed and clarity - ideas and inspirations do seem to happen more frequently using this herb. I also took the herb because Chinese Medicine indicates it helps with improving the drive to do things and achieve things. After a few weeks of regular daily doses, I did also find this to be true. I am now trying it on my elderly father as he has become cognitively slow now that he is in his 80s. His first dose, taken in water, coincided with increased mood- he was notably much happier, and as far as I can tell after about a week now, he reads more and drives better. Taste is somewhat medicinal, on the bitter side but not too bad.
