Palo Santo grows on the coast of South America and is related to Frankincense, Myrrh and Copal. In Spanish, Palo Santo translates as 'Holy or Sacred Wood'. The magic is in the alchemical process that happens after the death of a limb or tree. In order for the Palo Santo to gain its healing properties it must die, but not just any death – only a natural death of a wise old limb or tree.
The Palo Santo trees live for 80 to 90 years. After this death, the tree must remain in its natural habitat for 4 to 10 years to complete its metamorphosis. Only then do its sacred, medicinal and mystical properties come alive.
Palo Santo has been burned in ceremonies by Shamans for its energetically cleansing and healing properties. It creates a pleasant, fresh smelling smoke with hints of mint and citrus that uplifts and raises your vibration in preparation for meditation and allows for a deeper spiritual connection. It is also said that Palo Santo enhances creativity and brings good fortune. Even unlit, its beautiful aroma fills the space.

Directions
The palo santo sticks we source do not have any additives to help them burn, and are solely the aged wood from the palo santo tree. As they are pure wood, they do not continue burning like normal incense sticks (which are powdered ingredients, then bound together and rolled in a way that ensures they continue burning).
The way palo santo wood is traditionally used as incense is to light the wood and allow it to burn for as long as you'd like - the more it burns the more smoke they will generate when you blow the flame out.
Once the flame is blown out, the stick will give off smoke for a couple of minutes to be used to scent a room or smudge a space. Then can be reused again and again as and when required.
