Gathered from tall trees in the wild Russian forests, the Chaga medicinal mushroom (Inonotus obliquus) has been used for thousands of years and has become well-known for its extremely high antioxidant levels. It has more than many high antioxidant superfoods like blueberries, dark chocolate, and even acai berries. These medical mushrooms have some of the most powerful concentrated antioxidants known to man to help fight free radical,anti aging and to give the body antioxidants to boost the immune system.

Known in Siberia as the King of all Mushrooms, forest Chaga is a sacred and powerful adaptogen which has been used in Shamanic practice for thousands of years. Chaga contains concentrated forest medicine and nourishes the body and mind deeply. Filled with strange long chain polysaccharides Chaga builds immunity and adaptability. They grow on birch trees and other trees in forests of Russia, Korea, Eastern and Northern Europe, and in Russia have a long history of being used to help conditions such as gastritis, ulcers, hypertension, diabetes, psoriasis, anti-inflammatory and immune balancing conditions.

The sterile conk is irregularly formed and has the appearance of burnt charcoal. It is not the fruit body of the fungus, but a big mass of mycelium, mostly black due to the presence of massive amounts of melanin.

There are various ways that raw chaga powder is used. Here are a couple of the most common ones:

1. Cup of Tea

Add 1 to 2 grams of Chaga Mushroom Powder per cup to pre-boiled, hot water and steep 10-20 min or to taste
The powder can be kept inside a mesh or tea ball for re-use until Chaga is exhausted (water runs clear)

2. Bulk Stove Top Method

Add between 1 to 4 tablespoons of Chaga powder per Litre of water and simmer on med to med/low heat for 3 to 5 hours to extract the medicinal phytochemicals of the chaga make your own hot water extract.
Chaga can be kept inside a tea ball or muslin bag for convenience and re-use.
The temp should be kept below boiling at around 80 Celsius; not ever reaching boiling.

Serve hot or let cool to room temperature then refrigerate for up to 14 days. Can be enjoyed cold or reheated on the stove top. You can also store the used powder in the freezer and can be reused until no more colour comes from them.
