Pine Needle Extract · Full Spectrum · Wild Harvested
✧ What is Pine Needle?
Pine needle has been gathered and brewed as a forest tea for centuries, across the northern world, from the boreal forests of Asia and Europe to the woodlands of North America. The fresh green needles of the pine (Pinus) were a traditional winter drink, valued by foragers and woodland peoples as one of the simplest gifts of the evergreen forest.
Ours is a concentrated full spectrum extract of the needle, capturing the aromatic, resinous character of a fresh pine brew in an easy daily powder, without the steeping.
✧ What is a full spectrum extract, and why does it matter?
Our pine needle is extracted with purified water, in line with the traditions of Chinese herbalism, using a gentle, temperature-controlled process matched to the herb's characteristics. This captures the naturally occurring compounds in the same proportions found in the herb itself, which is what makes it a true full spectrum extract rather than an isolated or standardised fraction.
The liquid extract is dried with fine spray technology into a micro-fine powder that dissolves easily into warm water. Nothing is added, and nothing is standardised away.

✧ Your questions, answered
› Is this the same as your fresh pine needles for tea, and do I need to brew it?
No, and it is worth knowing the difference. This is a concentrated full spectrum powder, made by extracting the fresh green needles and drying the liquid into a micro-fine powder. The fresh pine needles we sometimes pick for tea are the whole green sprigs, a separate offering altogether.
With our extract there is no brewing or steeping to do. Simply stir a daily 1g, roughly half a level teaspoon, into warm water, tea, plant milk or a smoothie. The work of the brew has already been done in the extraction.
› What is the difference between our Pine Needle Extract and Pine Pollen?
They come from the same tree, yet they are two quite different products. Our Pine Needle Extract is a concentrated full spectrum extract of the green needles. Our Pine Pollen is made from the pollen of the pine, a different part of the plant entirely, and it is offered as a raw powder rather than an extract.
Which one suits you comes down to personal preference and how you like to take it. Both sit within our wider range of tonic herbs. If you are weighing up the two, our team is always happy to talk them through with you.
› What kind of pine is our Pine Needle Extract made from?
It is made from the needles of the pine, botanically the genus Pinus. On our label and in the ingredients it is listed simply as Pine Needle (Pinus).
Because it is a full spectrum extract, it carries the aromatic, resinous character of the fresh green needle through into the powder, rather than being narrowed to any single isolated part.
› What does "10:1 full spectrum" mean, and how strong is it?
Our Pine Needle is a 10:1 extract, which means around ten parts of the fresh needle go into every one part of finished powder. As a rough guide to strength, a daily 1g of our powder reflects roughly 10g of the raw needle.
Full spectrum means the naturally occurring compounds are captured in the same proportions found in the needle itself, using purified water and a gentle, temperature-controlled process. Nothing is standardised to a fixed percentage, and nothing is added or taken away. The liquid extract is then dried into a micro-fine powder that dissolves easily into warm water. Every batch is tested for heavy metals, pesticides and other contaminants, and you can view the Certificate of Analysis.
› How should I store it, and what should I do if it clumps?
Keep the dark glass jar sealed, somewhere cool and away from steam and humidity. Our extract contains no bulking agents or humectants, so over time, and especially once opened, the powder can draw in a little moisture from the air and firm up.
This is normal, and it is still perfectly good to use. If it sets, break off a piece and crumble it, or break it up in a small grinder. It will still dissolve readily into a warm drink.
